Trauma
Trauma can affect the body, emotions, beliefs, relationships, and sense of safety long after an event has ended. Reactions may include hypervigilance, avoidance, numbness, anger, shame, intrusive memories, sleep problems, or difficulty trusting.
Trauma work should be collaborative and paced with care. We may begin with education, safety, stabilization, coping skills, and present-day functioning before deciding whether and how to process painful memories. You will not be pressured to disclose more than is clinically appropriate.
